Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture

We can't hide the fact that we have all been waiting for Raf Simons' first show as the new creative director of Christian Dior. It happened yesterday in Paris and it was a big moment in the fashion history. We heard that points of view were divided but we loved it. Austere, architectural and graphic, this is what we felt. Raf Simons contrasted with the previous collections but he managed to stay faithful to Christian Dior's legacy. The show was the big rendez-vous of this Haute Couture Fashion Week, Elbaz, Marc Jacobs, Alaïa, Pierre Cardin, Sharon Stone, the Vogue team (old and current!) Anna Wintour, Anna Dello Russo, Carine Roitfeld, Emmanuelle Alt...they all had their eyes wide open. The Bar jacket was re-designed to fit in 2012, cuts were geometric, a vintage spirit was floating in the air and mini dresses were worn above the pants. Alber Elbaz summed-up the show with very elegant words: "the show reflects Raf's fragility and Dior's modernity". Raf Simon was smiling and "felt good" just before the show, we can understand why. We all were amazed by Galliano's creativity but now a new area is open and we are going back to more simplicity.
