Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs at the Art Descoratifs Museum of Paris

This beautiful exhibition is dedicated to Mr. Louis Vuitton, the founder of the brand, and Marc Jacobs, the artistic director of LVMH since 1997. It draws the parallel between their two different worlds.
The exhibition tells the story of how the men have contributed to the history of the fashion industry in their own way, from the industrial period of the mid 19th century to the globalization of the label at the beginning of the 21st century.
Louis Vuitton is revealed as an innovator, whose entrepreneurial instincts contributed largely to the birth of deluxe products. He answered to the requests of the affluent Parisian fashion bourgeoisie during the second half of 19th century.
Over a hundred and forty years later, Marc Jacobs, the young American designer, will play a major part in establishing the international image of the Louis Vuitton brand, growing-up from a single store in Paris, opened in 1854, to the 461 stores opened world-wide. He always managed to stay faithful to the history of the brand through his edgy eyes for the modern customers.
